In the spring well - or at least from 1878 to 1880 - Thomas Edison worked to be better, more efficient light. At the time, incandescent lamps were too flashing for small spaces. They use electricity to heat the filament, or a thin strip of metal until it shines. Edison is said to have tested thousands of theories to evolve an efficient incandescent lamp.

"The electric light has caused me the greatest amount of reading and it took the most elaborate experiments," Edison wrote."I've never discouraged or was likely to be no hope of success. I can not say the same for all my colleagues. "

Researchers can probably modern reference to the location of Edison and his associates as they tackle the task of improving alternatives to the prone to blisters Americans have used since the 19th century.
