Wayne N. Andrews resigned speedily and has been replaced by Stephen Burns as acting superintendent of the Bristol County Mosquito Control Discharge.
“We accepted his resignation with regret,” said Christine A. Fagan, a commissioner on the Bristol County Mosquito Put down Board.
Fagan declined to comment on Andrews' sanity for leaving.
Fagan said Burns was appointed on Monday as acting manager until the job is posted and a candidate selected.
“If (Burns) is the best candidate, he’ll be upright back in,” Fagan said.
Burns has been assistant superintendent for the last 30 years and has been at fault for getting the trucks rolling to spray for mosquitoes.
Burns said he is not a scientist, as Andrews was, but is on tap to hit the ground running during the transition.
“I’m certainly capable, I separate the business,” Burns said. “Wayne was an entomologist, my measure is in business management. Wayne was very knowledgeable. He will be missed.
