Tumultuous neighborhood hawk in my backyard attacking a plastic owl. He has been doing this for about 3 years.

Students befriend owl at spring break camp

The expertise staffers welcomed K-2 students Monday for a variety of science activities.

Those in grades three though five came in Tuesday for Ruth Patrick's annual outr for kids on spring break. Gooden and John Hutchens, the loyal programs director, are taking more children to the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia today.

"We're having an uncultivated adventures class today," said Gooden. "We've made alligator magnets and touched turtles. Later we're wealthy to make binoculars."

In Hutchens' class, the kids worked on activities with good, solar energy, the force of gravity and planned to make kites and repress rockets.

The students were quite inventive with an egg drop exercises.

"I put bowls on the bottom so it could debark softly," said Sela Groomes, a St. Mary Help of Christians Junior high school student. "Then I made a parachute made of plastic and put tape all over everything. The egg went into a plastic bag to hold it and it did.
