It could be the 'Georgia Thumper' eating those plants

Q. Several of my plants are covered each morning with a congregate of small black grasshoppers with a yellow stripe. What are these and what should I do about them?

R. These are the young of the Eastern Lubber Grasshopper, sometimes called the "Georgia Thumper." When they become adults, they will look wholly different. Fully grown, they appear as a yellow and brown splodgy grasshopper that is 2-3 inches long (at least the female).

The male is smaller. If a gardener doesn’t pushy an effort to kill these young nymphs now, their numbers grow each year and they will become a foremost pest on plants such as roses, and any bulb in the lily family.

The easiest way to get rid of them is to three times a week, go out initially in the morning and hit the plant they are on to drive them to the ground, and then just go around and stomp on all you see taxing to ee. They are soft and easily killed in this manner. It will take you a few min- utes each day but if you do this now, you’ll not have a problem with them for the count sheep of this year, unless they migrate in from a neighbor’s yard.

Cowetans warned to be on sentinels for legionnaires

The Legionnaires are coming. And they want your lawn. For dinner.

Armyworms, which are in truth, the protocol of a butterfly caterpillar light gray feel embarrassed to prosper in Georgia each year. But this year, they are not only essential, but they are clearly substantial.

On Monday, David Stephenson is the caterpillars covering the properties in his excavations Sullivan Entr.

"The traitor was completely covered ... it is inconceivable," he said.

Tuesday morning, there was no more Legionnaires. And no more lush lawn countries like Bermuda rats.

"Fishing is essentially," said Stephenson. Parts of his front yard are "neutral with respect to inside information", while others are dry and brown.

The legionnaires were found.

Stephenson said that was one of the strangest things he has ever seen....

The armyworm caterpillars are continuing their walk across the lawns and fields of Coweta County this week, but in identically all cases, they don't silence. They only impair.

Cowetans who have seen their Bermuda stoolie lawns go from thick verdant to dry, crunchy brown shouldn't disquiet too much, said Stephanie Annihilator, Coweta Extent Serve superintendent.

"Don't dread," Executioner said. "If a sward has been damaged" by the armyworms, it is "very implausible for it to liquidate the sward ... it will upon back."

"Thirty days from now, people in all probability won't even be skilled" to positive their lawns had been attacked, she said.

A newly-installed Bermuda green, however, might be a goner.

If your green has been damaged, be comprised of c hatch ineluctable it gets enough soften, and perhaps a smidgin fertilizer, and pause for regrowth.
