Butterfly Gardening: To Bt Or Not To Bt? « A Round Rock Garden

Butterfly gardening is a worthwhile diversion.  With a clear amount of delve into and some merciless m, you can transmute an extent of your yard into a fortuitous improper for the neighborhood butterflies to close up in and benefit.  If you are providential enough, they’ll in good time call your garden home and bring out further generations for you to marvel at and get high on.

Besides planting the honestly flowers to suffice as nectar and emcee plants, it is respected not to use pesticides in the butterfly garden.  Pesticides are poisonous to advantageous insects like butterflies, butterfly larvae (caterpillars) and bees – the pollinators you are attempting to entice to your garden.

So what happens when mommy identity sends a marauding army of caterpillars  to chew down your prized plumbago or a battalion of flea beetles to snack through your hibiscus?

I use a few methods of basic power described here and they have worked well, but this year has been creative for those petty pests in my garden, firstly the caterpillars.  While away for a week on vacation, the caterpillars tore through the herb garden, chowing down on the intelligent.  Webworms have moved in as well on the thyme plants and rosemary.  I as usual have achievement nothing but handpicking them, as with loopers, but with webworms it is a toy more complex.
