Is it ok to use an ultrasonic pest/insect repeller aound my small puppy?

 I'm afraid of spiders until I got my puppy I using a corkscrew ultrasonic mosquito repellent, which does not seem to help. Now it becomes "mature spider" I wonder if it will upset my puppy if I use it again. Some say its ok - others not. Can someone assistants?
